We provide a warm, nurturing environment for psychotherapy. Interventions can treat a wide range of issues but with all issues we will work together to define problem areas and collaborate to find a way forward. The basis for all effective therapy is a trusting and strong therapeutic relationship. Our initial sessions will help us articulate your current difficulties and gather some background information, which will provide the basis for us noticing patterns about the way you relate to others, and yourself. After this initial phase (1-2 sessions), we will decide if it is best to continue working together and make a plan.
Anxiety is an increasingly common problem for adults; it can lead to avoidance of important events and limit one's ability to enjoy life in the present moment. We utilize both cognitive behavioral, mindfulness-based, and psychodynamic interventions to help you improve your relationship with your anxiety and get back to your life. Anxiety can have roots in the past that can also be explored in treatment.
Depression can lead to a loss of pleasure in once pleasurable activities, a persistently low mood, and make it difficult to maintain relationships. Depression can be precipitated by a life event or loss, or be of a more unknown origin. Regardless of its source, treatment for depression can provide needed relief to psychological pain.
We are social beings, so it is understandable that we struggle when our close relationships experience turmoil, conflict, or even indifference. Relationships can also include our relationship with ourselves and therapy can explore the general patterns in the way we relate. Both couples and individual therapy can focus on relational problems.
Anger problems can severely impact our relationships and career. Anger is an important emotion that we all need to experience and express, but anger can also be experienced and expressed in ways that are hurtful to ourselves and others. We can work together to express emotions in adaptive ways.
Work problems are common and there are often limited resources for dealing with them. We can work through ways you can more effectively interact with your coworkers and superiors, and increase your productivity. We can also explore ways you can advocate for yourself to increase your pay and develop your career.
